Throughout my career I have worked in roles that I am passionate about; supporting individuals and families to improve their quality of life and relationships.
I set up my private practice in October 2017 and have since had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients with a diverse range of issues. I am committed to the work that I do and feel privileged to work with every client that I meet.
In 2004 I qualified as a Counsellor after completing a Higher Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at Leeds Metropolitan University. Before then I graduated at the University of Leeds with a 2:1 (BA hons) in Psychology and Media in 1999.
I gained BACP accreditation in June 2017 ( BACP accreditation schemes aim to recognise the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy).
In July 2024 I became an Accredited Member of The EMDR Association after completed my qualification in EMDR in July 2020. I am seeing satisfying results in reducing PTSD, anxiety symptoms when using this technique with clients.
In January 2020 I also gained a certificate in Family Lives in The Therapeutic Space which is accredited by Play Therapy UK. I use the skills and experience to add depth to my therapeutic work.
In previous roles I have worked in secondary schools, GP surgeries, worked in the community and in a Family Assessment Centre.
I am proud to have worked for the Cambridgeshire based youth charity Centre 33 as a Mental Health and Counselling Project Worker between 2014- 2018 . Part of my role was to train and manage volunteer counsellors who practiced in the community and in local secondary schools.
Along side my private practice I also work part time for a Staff Counselling Service in Higher Education practicing therapeutic counselling and EMDR.
I love keeping my Continuing Professional Development up to date by reading, training and taking new qualifications.
