About Me

My Counselling Philosophy

Hi I am Helen, I meet every person whom I work with as a individual, who has a unique experience of life  relationships.

You are the expert on yourself and on your life. I am here to offer therapeutic support to help you to work through issues that are causing you distress.

My Qualifications and Professional Background

I am a registered and accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I graduated in 1999 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Psychology and Media from the University of Leeds. I completed a Higher Education Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling skills in 2004 from the Leeds Metropolitan University. I have spent my career working with children, young people and families in assessment, support and counselling roles. One of my most recent posts was in the Mental Health and Counselling team in the Cambridgeshire charity Centre 33. In this role I trained and managed sessional and volunteer counsellors and provided assessments and counselling to children and young people in schools and in the community in East Cambridgeshire.

I set up in private practice in October 2017 and offer private counselling sessions to  young people ( aged 12 plus) and adults.

In September 2018 I started a part time locum role in the Staff Counselling Service in the University of Cambridge.

I hold a current DBS  check and have regular training in safeguarding. I am currently undertaking a qualification called Family Lives in the Therapeutic Space.

I fulfil the BACPs annual requirement for continuing professional development ( and I also enjoy it!).
